CUD holders can travel in buses and trains across the country at no cost, regardless of the reason for their trip. If the certificate reads “Valid for an escort,” it means the person traveling with the CUD holder can also travel for free.
In each jurisdiction, it is necessary to visit the Secretary of Transportation or the Disability Office to find out the requirements and conditions for free travel.
The disabled person or his/her representative must request the ticket at the long-distance company ticket office at least forty-eight hours before traveling (but not more than thirty days beforehand).
